What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is a long-term illness that affects a number of mental functions, including speech issues and memory loss. With appropriate care and support, those living with dementia continue living their lives to the fullest when living here at Haling Park Care Home. Staff assists residents to maintain a sense of self and independence for as long as possible. We recognise that no two people with dementia are alike and that although some may only require modest assistance in managing their everyday lives, others may require much more. Our Dementia Care is entirely tailored to our residents with dementia and our home and staff offer the perfect environment for residents to live a fulfilled life, safely.

Our Approach to Dementia Care

Our team is fully trained to understand and support dementia; we take pride in delivering the highest levels of care and respect for every individual. Through carefully planned activities, social and mental stimulation is improved, and any frustrations and tensions linked with dementia can be relieved. It is our mission to provide the best, most appropriate treatment that helps each individual, allowing them to live a happy and comfortable life. With distinct spaces and recognition of the need for comfort and familiarity, as well as the practicalities like well-designed en-suite wet rooms, our home has been designed to be safe and accessible for everyone, including those living with dementia.

When is Dementia Care Necessary?

Dementia is a progressive syndrome, meaning that the person suffering from it will need additional support and care as time goes on. If a person’s dementia has progressed to the point that they receive additional care and assistance with each passing day, Dementia Care provided by a care home will be necessary. Working with family and loved ones, the staff here at Haling Park Care Home creates an authentic picture of a resident’s life, ensuring that both medical and wellness care is considered and facilitated and ensures ongoing happiness, comfort, and wellbeing.

Putting Residents First

Haling Park is built on the ethos that each individual should be given every opportunity to live an enriched and independent life in a supportive, caring environment. Our residential and nursing support team is here to help residents live an independent life with as much or as little support as they wish. For our residents who live with age-related physical, mental and emotional difficulties, our care services and professional teams have been put together to alleviate any and all stress that everyday routines can potentially cause; alleviating these day-to-day challenges allows residents to thrive throughout their stay with us. Our approach is more than meeting care needs, it’s about putting residents first and caring for the individual as a whole, allowing them to live the enriched and varied life they deserve.
