COVID-19

The health, safety, and wellbeing of our residents, their families, and our staff is of utmost importance to us at Haling Park Care Home and we go to great lengths to ensure that we all remain as safe as possible from the risks of COVID-19. We continue to follow guidance and legislation as issued by the Government and key sector bodies and we are dedicated to keeping our residents, their families, and our staff well-informed at all times.

Despite the difficulties our community has faced as a result of COVID-19, we have worked hard to implement robust policies and procedures that provide a level of reassurance for all residents and visitors to the home.

Staying Safe & Protected

To maintain the safety of those in our care home, we ensure that we have an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand hygiene products. We have implemented infection prevention and control measures, which all our staff are committed to following.

We understand the importance of keeping informed and compliant with official advice and guidance provided by the Government, Department of Health, and local NHS Trust. We advise our residents and team members to keep themselves up to date with all available vaccinations and boosters for COVID-19 and flu. If cases occur, we have an effective system in place to record and take necessary action to minimise their spread.

Keeping Our Community Connected

As a result of the impact of COVID-19, we are even more committed to ensuring that our residents maintain connections with their loved ones and the community. We fully support residents who wish to leave the care home for day trips and overnight stays. In order to enable this, residents will need to undergo an individual risk assessment, which includes respiratory screening questions upon their return. While we do not mandate testing and isolation for residents who temporarily leave the home, we strongly recommend they are vaccinated for day trips or overnight stays, to ensure everyone’s safety.

During times when face-to-face interaction is challenging, such as during an outbreak, we provide various online devices to enable residents to video call their friends and family and stay in touch. We recognise the significance of human interaction and engagement in activities for our residents’ mental and physical wellbeing, and therefore, we offer additional support to residents to enable them to continue with their hobbies, explore their interests, and socialise with new people.

COVID-19 FAQs

We recognise the importance of COVID-19 and ensuring our residents, their families, and our staff stay safe. At Haling Park Care Home, we are always happy to provide assistance, guidance and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Here are some of our FAQs regarding COVID-19.

Whilst being vaccinated is no longer mandatory we strongly recommend that all residents, their visitors, and team members at Haling Park Care Home are fully COVID-19 vaccinated, including future boosters, unless medically exempt. To reduce the risk of infection to others we will continue to encourage our team members to have all their vaccinations.

When transferring from the community or another care home a person does not need to isolate if the circumstances at the care home / interim care facility from which the person has transferred are known.

If the resident is symptomatic or has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, then they should isolate and perform two LFT tests on day (0), and again on day (2). Isolation can end following two negative tests.

If the resident tests positive in the home, they must be isolated for 5 days. The resident can then return to their normal activities if they feel well and do not have a high temperature (without the use of medication paracetamol).

Residents who test positive should avoid contact with other people who are eligible for COVID-19 treatments for 10 days after a positive test. Residents unable to take the test should isolate for 5 days.

During an outbreak, there may be risk assessments carried out to include but are not limited to the control of visiting arrangements, admissions to the home, and the use of communal areas for a period of time. We work closely with local and national agencies in accordance with local agreements and guidance. For more information please contact our Home Manager directly.
