Residents Dancing with Drummers for Black History Month

Celebrating Black History Month with African Drumming

Every year, we celebrate Black History Month here at Haling Park throughout the month of October.

This national celebration aims to promote and celebrate black contributions to British society, and to foster an understanding of black history in general.

To celebrate black history month we had Xipane-Pane a dancing and singing group visit the home, where they performed a traditional dance from Mozambique called rumba, xigubo.

The residents had a wonderful day and even got to try some local Mozambique dishes such as shrimp puffs & badjia.

At Haling Park, we want to pay homage to our residents by celebrating their cultures and backgrounds through special celebrations such as this. We are proud to have such a diverse group of individuals residing at Haling Park where they can learn from one another and feel part of a loving and welcoming community.

We look forward to hosting more celebrations and events soon - there's always something fun and exciting being organised by the activities team for our residents to enjoy as well as be a part of.
