World Alzheimer’s Day At Haling Park

To mark World Alzheimer’s Day, we spent the afternoon at Haling Park enjoying a relaxing spa experience with our residents and staff. Everyone was encouraged to wear something with purple to recognise the day and show their support for Alzheimer’s awareness.
Residents enjoyed some time being pampered, including relaxing hand massages and having their nails painted. It was lovely to see everyone choosing their nail colours and enjoying the experience. Some residents also had full manicures, making the afternoon a chance to sit back and be looked after.
We also had some light snacks and homemade cupcakes to enjoy throughout the afternoon, giving everyone the opportunity to sit together and have a chat.

It was a simple way for us to recognise World Alzheimer’s Day at Haling Park while spending time together and enjoying an afternoon of self-care.
Research shows that around two out of every three people living with dementia in the UK have Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia and is a physical disease that damages the brain, affecting memory and thinking as it progresses.
