Surrey Street Market, one of Britain’s oldest known street markets, has been operating for years in Croydon Town Centre. Interactive street theatre, an entrepreneur market, outdoor musical entertainment, and Christmas-themed events are all on the schedule. Croydon is also home to one of Greater London’s only four huge windmills that are entirely available to the public. Shirley Windmill, which was built in 1854, is open to the public during the summer months. Enjoy a 60-minute guided tour of the mill, where you can learn about how flour was milled in Victorian times. For those looking for brand new places to tickle their tastebuds, we recommend Boxpark Croydon. From quaint bistro-style cafés to the ‘foodie paradise’ you’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice. With all of these wonderful Croydon-based activities accessible via car in less than ten minutes, residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring their local community.
