One of the most popular spaces in our home is our tranquil and peaceful library. This comfortable space is the ideal location for residents to relax and read a favourite book or get lost in a new one. We encourage all residents to take advantage of the library; from enjoying the journey a well-written book takes you on, to stress reduction and improved sleep and increasing memory circuits, there are an abundance of benefits to be enjoyed by all.
Reading alone or in a group helps individuals to engage their imaginations while also providing topics of conversation for fellow residents and even family members to join in on. From reading alone to enjoying a quiet tabletop game with a fellow resident, our library is the perfect place to relax.
An Abundance of Benefits
Reading can make an enormous difference to residents’ health and has been known to improve mental health, socialisation skills and encourage individuals to continue to live an independent lifestyle. From reducing stress to enhancing their memory to even improving sleep, reading regularly comes with a host of benefits. Simply reading for pleasure has a wonderful impact upon the wellbeing of our residents and so our library will always be an inviting and welcoming space.
Something for Everyone
Our library aims to appeal to a wide audience by including popular classics like ‘Wuthering Heights’ as well as more modern literature. No matter what genre our residents enjoy, we are confident that there is something on the shelves that will pique their interest. Our selection of books is updated regularly, ensuring that even our most frequent visitors will always find something new to enjoy.
What You’ll Find Around Our Home
Our comfortable and inviting library is filled with plenty of books for residents to enjoy at any time of the day. Whether they are looking to settle in a comfy chair in the corner for the day, or enjoy a tabletop game for two, our library is the perfect spot for some quiet time.
Books, Newspapers & Periodicals
Residents are able to choose from a wide variety of publications in our cosy library. Whatever they wish to immerse themselves in, we are sure to have something they’ll enjoy; from magazines to Newspapers through to historical periodicals our library is bursting with a variety of material.
Table Top Games
As well as reading, residents are also able to use the library space to play tabletop games. From Scrabble to Chess, we encourage those who visit our library to enjoy the quiet games available to them. Residents have the option to play alone, with a fellow resident or even invite their loved ones to enjoy a game or two together.
An Evergrowing Collection
We update our book collection on a regular basis; from autobiographies to romantic novels, our collection grows week by week. Our Activity Coordinator sources reading material that they know will be enjoyed as well as taking recommendations from residents and their loved ones.
Here at Haling Park Care Home we encourage all of our residents to do what makes them happy and take part in as many hobbies and activities as possible. Whether residents wish to be stimulated and motivated by an activity they have always enjoyed, or are looking to discover something new, we thrive in seeing residents enjoy engaging and exciting activities. There are several spacious lounges and dining rooms available around the home offering opportunities to socialise with the other residents and a range of activities to ensure that each day holds something new and interesting. With a varied activities and entertainment programme, in addition to regular outings and events, residents are able to enjoy first-class facilities and live a rich life every day.
Putting Residents First
Haling Park is built on the ethos that each individual should be given every opportunity to live an enriched and independent life in a supportive, caring environment. Our residential and nursing support team are here to help residents live an independent life with as much or as little support as they wish. For our residents who live with age-related physical, mental and emotional difficulties, our care services and professional teams have been put together to alleviate any and all stress that everyday routines can potentially cause; removing these day-to-day challenges allows residents to thrive throughout their stay with us. Our approach is more than meeting care needs, it’s about putting residents first and caring for the individual as a whole, allowing them to live the enriched and varied life they deserve.
